FAQs

Q?

What determines the pricing of the product? If I purchase it for our corporate office, will it track our other offices around the world or do I need to purchase each dbDefend application for each location? Does it sell by the Baker’s Dozen?

A.

The pricing of our products is on a per-server-price. If you have offices around the world running their own servers, you must purchase a license for each server. However, you can control all of these servers from a centralized location. Rebates for bulk-purchases and longer terms are available.

Q?

How is your product demonstrated to us? Is there a free trial period?

A.

We can schedule an online demonstration so you can check out the features of our products. dbDefend grants a trial period of one month for new customers. During that time we will work with you so that you receive the full value from the product and learn about the features.

Q?

Can we host dbDefend and can our IT people setup the application or do you need to set the application up? Are there HELP instructions for us?

A.

Your IT department will be able to set up dbDefend’s products. dbAudit and dbMonitor are enterprise class applications which might be deployed on a variety of servers depending on the size of your company. We will provide thorough documentation on how to set up the components on your servers. If further help is needed you get individualized assistance from us.

Q?

Does dbDefend live on our server?

A.

Our products follow the principles of the least impact necessary. We need to install a monitoring service for dbMonitor on your server. For dbAudit we need to install some routines on your database, but in the spirit of full disclosure, we will show you what we install so you can be at ease that we are not installing anything that would harm your database and your operations. When it comes to analyzing and/or storing the results of the monitoring, the customer can choose to use local or cloud storage.

Q?

But my company does not use any of the top ten databases and I am interested in your products. Can you make it work for us?

A.

No, not at this time.

Q?

What determines the timeline for implementation and deployment of dbDefend?

A.

dbAudit and dbMonitor are currently available for SQLServer. Versions for MySQL and Oracle are in development.
